Excuse me, but we're on Butt Quest 7 now. Where have you been?

Happy New Year, Jimmy!

Definitely shoot for a release on itch.io. It doesn't take long to get set up there. GOG may also be a good option. Keep your options open since Steam isn't exactly the definitive go-to platform anymore.

Jimmy's one of the games I'm really looking forward to this year. Best of luck! You can do it!

Mownt: For Peace (IGMC 2017) Review

That 3 staying on is one of the more annoying bugs this game features. Haven't figured out the cause yet!

I'm not sure which damage pop-up script you're using, but it's likely being caused by battles ending before the popups have a chance to disappear. Maybe put a 1-2 second wait time when ending battles that are aborted midway, like the first Clinger fight.

Who's That Nicknamed RMN Member?!

I legit thought it was "Kentona be gone", and then I looked at it more closely and saw "GB One" (as in Gameboy)

But G Bone?

That took me by surprise.

Who's That Nicknamed RMN Member?!

SgtMettool comes from:

Sgt: I had a Sgt. Frog/Keroro Gunso phase
Mettool: A briefly-used localization for the Mega Man enemies now known as Mettaurs

I usually shorten it to Sgt M nowadays since it sounds like an old AIM screen name, doesn't roll off the tongue all that well, and I've been using it since 2008 or so.

Torch60 is the name I use for my Gamedev stuff. It's an inside joke from when I was speedrunning Dragon Quest I, in which part of the speedrun involves resetting a treasure chest that has a 1/16 chance of having a valuable item you sell for money (15/16ths of the time, it's a Torch). I held the unfortunate record of having to reset the chest 60 times during a race, but that record has since been broken.

My game is one of the top sold games with RPG Maker tag on Steam.

As for why these are statuses and not blog posts, this brings up an interesting point. Commercial Steam success seems to not equal RMN success, at least in Tuomo's case.

I wholly get that different developers have different goals, which in Tuomo's case seems to be heavily weighted towards turning a profit. But considering he joined this community by complaining that people weren't paying attention to his game and strong-arming it to the front page I'm less worried about how much he embellishes himself, and more worried that it might enable others to act the same way.

Because every topic or status he has posted -has- gotten us to pay attention to him, and it's been a cycle for months now. Like, I'm sorry, but I don't think Tuomo is here for feedback or to improve himself as a developer. I feel like he's just here to sell things and that's why I think people are getting frustrated.

I really am not trying to be mean here. I'm glad that Tuomo is so passionate about what he does, even if his goals are completely different than most of ours. But we're really seeing how the two ideals clash lately and it's frustrating.

I usually don't get heated by these kinds of things, but I'm worried it's going to further hurt the outlook of commercial games on this site.

Got goals? (2018)

Oh yeah, and 6. Quit Facebook forever. And not the "say I'll quit and then go back in two months" kind of quit.

My game is one of the top sold games with RPG Maker tag on Steam.

I mean, congrats. But can you take your success with a bit more... modesty?

Got goals? (2018)

1. Finish at least half to 3/4ths of the content for Crescent Eve. I'd love to have it done sometime in 2019, honestly.
2. Try to do at least one other small project. If IGMC 2018 happens, I have an idea for it.
3. Play more of other people's games.
4. Review more of other people's games
5. Get back into speedrunning.

Reduce the number of categories.
Have games only be able to compete in the top three categories they were nominated for during the voting phase.
Maybe also hide the number of nominations each game got and randomize their order on the list, so people don't just assume the games that got the most nominations are the best ones to vote for.

Honestly I think the problem is we're just spreading the Misaos too thin for the amount of activity the site gets. Consolidating them could help make the voting more meaningful.
